Overview.

Unit 1 of curriculum studies teaches the definition, characteristics, aspects, and conceptions of curriculum studies. The lesson conducted so far were meaningful in numerous ways. Students' got the chance to raise their opinion through in class discussion, Vle blog, and telegram. one impressive value learnt from tutor was, the ability to receive every opinion without judgment. The lesson taught so far was engaging with group work, pair work, and individual work. Moreover, lesson were further complemented by the use of ICT is classroom thus, catering to the needs of all types of learner. However, at certain point, the lesson gets teacher centered and monotonous too. Beside that, the lesson taught so far were filled with academic knowledge and values.

What I learnt.

What I learnt from the series of lesson on unit 1? Well, I got exposed to different knowledge on curriculum and also got cleared of many misconception one had towards curriculum. To cite an example; initially, I perceived curriculum as a guideline that direct us to segregate what to teach and what not. With me attending these lessons, I got clear idea on what curriculum is and that, curriculum not only serve academic purpose but also beyond class, school, and academic purposes. I also learnt that, it is dynamic and evolving in nature. Furthermore, I got to learn a value of relevancy and respect while exploring the characteristics of curriculum. I could get vivid picture of hard work curriculum maker has to do. Not only they have to be receptive of ideas, align it with current demand in logical manner but also, it requires a great deal of time. Thus, it evokes a sense of appreciation and respects towards the curriculum makers. With this, I feel that, unit 1 served its objectives of letting students' gain knowledge on curriculum academic wise and implement the values beyond academic successfully.

Next, to speak on the most interesting lesson experienced so far, it was the lesson on conception of curriculum. I got exposed to types of conceptions and specifically on Social Reconstructionist conception. It was a group work and the advantages I gained were: the skill of reflection and analyzing as I looked back to the curriculums I experienced as a student. I was able to comprehend whether the curriculum had the objectives of Social reconstructionist conception which is, 'School as an agent of social change'. Then, I was also able to upgrade my comparison skill as I collate the previous curriculum with current curriculum. The lesson brought excitements and expectations of sharing my thoughts and discoveries. However, I got stripped off of my chance to share due to my sickness.

The take away.

Therefore, my take way from these week long discussion, facilitation, and input made me realize that I need to further explore and study curriculum with great interest. So that, I can comprehend and bring changes that caters the upcoming youths' need in near future. In addition, I also needs to do self study on rest of conceptions of curriculum since, I missed the opportunity to learn from my peers. To conclude, the lesson held so far was significant as well as tedious at some point.
